Ultrasound Guided Joint Injections at Access MRI

Access MRI offers Ultrasound-guided joint injections, a frequently requested treatment for pain. People who may benefit from this treatment include those with arthritis, sports injuries, and nerve injuries.  Some medications work best when they are directly injected into a specific part of the body, Using  ultrasound guidance allows the doctor performing the procedure to precisely target the site for injection.

Ultrasound video images are constantly updated during needle placement.

What to Expect

  • You will be contacted prior to your appointment to make sure everything is ready to go for your procedure.
  • You can expect the procedure to take about 30 minutes.
  • After the
  • procedure, you will be provided with instructions and information about when to resume activities.

Medications Commonly Injected Using Ultrasound:

  • Anti-inflammatories (steroids),
  • Local anaesthetics for immediate pain relief
  • Viscosity supplementation medications which add lubrication to joints to reduce friction and symptoms.

Benefits of Ultrasound-Guided Joint Injections

Accuracy: Because Ultrasound provides high-resolution imaging, the injection can be precisely targeted.

Effectiveness: Precision targeting of the injection gets the medication exactly where it’s needed in order to provide maximum benefit.

Comfort: Ultrasound is a versatile imaging tool which allows injections to be done in ways that are often more comfortable than X-ray-guided injections.
